Staghorn Wildlife Shelter

Staghorn Wildlife Shelter is a registered Wildlife Shelter based at Staghorn Flat, nestled below Mt. Murramurranbong in the Indigo Shire.

Run by Joanne Mitlenher the shelter has been in operation since 2001 and it specialises in the care and rescue of birds of prey and all other birds, over a 100 km radius from the shelter location (servicing Indigo, Alpine, Towong and Wodonga Shires).

Staghorn Wildlife Shelter has a network of rescuers, transporters, and foster carers, and they work closely with other local shelters.

The shelter responds to hundreds of call-outs each year and is a vital wildlife care and rescue service in the Kiewa catchment and surrounds. Jo is also a member of Wildlife Victoria, Help for Wildlife, and Wildlife Rescue Australia, all of which are wildlife rescue call centres.
