Caring for our Communities and the Environment

Kiewa Catchment Landcare Groups

Landcare is a volunteer movement that connects people from all walks of life to do something good for the environment.

Kiewa Catchment Landcare Groups is the Landcare network for the Kiewa Catchment.   We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation based in North-East Victoria.

Our vision is an engaged and connected community that values and cares for thriving and resilient natural environments, farmlands and landscapes throughout the Kiewa Catchment.

We actively seek multiple opportunities and partnerships for our communities to learn about and contribute to restoring and protecting our land, soils and water. We lead, educate and enable people to ensure the Kiewa Catchment thrives into the future.

We have been supporting our landholders and communities for more than 25 years.   We are an active and inclusive Landcare community, welcoming everyone.

Come join us and get involved in your local Landcare community today!

Every year the Indigo Shire recognise the people and organisations that are going above and beyond in their community through their Australia Day Community Awards. These awards are given to those who strengthen, support, and inspire our communities every day.

Join us in congratulating Kiewa Catchment Landcare's President, Rowan Wallace, who received the Kergunyah town and district award for her community leadership and volunteering.

Rowan is recognised for her decades of dedicated service to Kergunyah, from leading the Kiewa Catchment Landcare Group to nurturing generations of children through the annual Christmas Tree Concert. Her quiet, steadfast leadership has strengthened local environmental stewardship, preserved community history, and created cherished traditions that bring the community together.

"Kergunyah has been my lifelong home, as a child I always loved being part of community activities, as an adult contributing to building community through our local events, committees and landcare has been very rewarding and I am truly honoured to be nominated by the community to receive this award."

Well done Rowan, you are an inspiration!

Every year the Indig

The past few weeks has been incredibly difficult for many Victorians. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the bushfires – whether you’ve experienced damage to your property, your home, or your community. Please know that everyone at Trust for Nature is thinking of you during this challenging time.

These fires haven’t only destroyed homes, fences and infrastructure, they’ve burnt vital habitat on private land that native species rely on for food and shelter.

The scale of impact is sobering with more than 30 conservation covenants, over 100 Land for Wildlife properties, and one of Trust for Nature’s reserves affected. And with fires still burning, we’re yet to understand the full extent of the impact on biodiversity and nature conservation.

Trust for Nature is launching an urgent Landholder Support - Bushfire Recovery Appeal to support these landholders and the habitats they care for. Every dollar raised will go directly to a Landholder Support Program, providing small support payments to help Trust for Nature covenantors and Land for Wildlife members restore their properties for conservation.
Nature is resilient but recovery takes time, resources, and community support. Together, we can make a difference.

Please, if you can, donate today to help regenerate Victoria’s wildlife habitat and support the people who protect it.
